A moment in co-ordinated kimonos...sending our love to all. And had a swim for in this lovely indoor/ outdoor spa...getting the kinks out with all the great jets.

A miniature train set zooming around .. for Quin Einer. It's called the Shinkazen and everyone says it's the best train ... What do you think?

If they get this bikeway cleared of sand it will be a world class destination ride. We got about 3 fantastic km. on it in the sunshine. You would not believe the money and effort goig into saving the coastline here from storms & tsunami.

Cool bike parking lot under the train station. The only question was, "which of the seven tunnels lead to the street we wanted. Don't tell us, "just read the signs,". We've only got a little Japanese.

Suddenly an east coast Canadian home in the middle of ancient Kanazawa.

Travelling mercies

Still along the Eichizen coast, Sea of Japan.

Great sites to remember when Dan heads to work next week in Tokyo city.

So far the passing squalls have just made us greatful for our jackets and every bit of sun that breaks through.

Hey, how impressive is this potty training scene in a roadside public toilet.

Just at a city entrance an amazing bird sanctuary.

Thinking of Dirk and the Owl who returned to Kaslo just as he left.

These rice paddies are right on the other side of the road from the bird sanctuary, and the paddies go right up to the city buildings. There must be some kind law or expectation about farmers being able to use every bit of arable land for fields.

Found several bikes ways, this one protected by bamboo, down a beside a  canal with secret little pathways for boat owners.

All day spent riding on the coastal side of the Japanese Alps. Thinking of so many at home in our beloved Selkirks and Purcells.

Wind and Waves in Echizen

Tsuruga is on the west coast of Japan n just a little south of the latitude of Tokyo. 

To travel with bikes you have to learn how to pack them in a travel bag ... Took us most of the morning. 

Spent the night in a minshuku.. B& b with dinner & breakfast...then headed off after the snow squall passed. 

In howling winds road for 9 hours through many little towns.

Alexis should know houses made of mud & sawdust have lasted more than 300 years .. great value for your work.

This modern one has not made it 10 years ...what reason we don't know. 

An ancient bell for cousin Danny .. Not many survived the war and were used for armaments.

Houses Sean & Uli would love..easy to move we hear.

Volcanic rocky coastline.

A day of wild breakers and artfully trained trees.

Finally just before another huge squall.....luckily found a place to sleep.

With an amazing bath ..hurrah..two marble pools of hot water over looking the sea.

Crab steamed, grilled, boiled in soup, tempera crab , and crab stewed, crab balls in our miso soup, crab with rice & mushrooms and .....

Never thought I'd ever say, "Finally enough crab!"
